HOPE Center of Edmond

  • Monday, December 20, 2010
  • The HOPE Center of Edmond was organized in April, 1984 to meet a community need for a central agency to provide social services. The Center was developed by the Edmond Ministerial Alliance, an inter-denominational council of churches, with volunteers and a grant from the Edmond Women’s Club.

The purpose of the HOPE Center is to meet the basic needs of members of the Edmond community by providing food, clothing, household items and financial assistance for rent and utilities. In 2008, HOPE Center provided assistance to more than 18,000 people. This included rent, food, prescriptions, transportation, utility payments, clothing and household items.

In this time of Holiday Cheer, some people need a helping hand. If you need help, or you want to donate to help others, please visit the HOPE Center website for more information.

    Edmond 14-Year-Old Publishes First Novel

  • Friday, December 3, 2010
  • At 14, when girls can be preoccupied with clothes, makeup and hanging out with friends, Mikayla Holden is busy writing a sequel to her first Western novel, which was published this summer.

Holden began writing “Addy Love” when she was only 11 years old. She said she can't remember a time when she wasn't writing something. “There are a few other books that I am hoping to publish sometime,” she said. “The others are just fun stories to write to get my teenage emotions out.”

    Bryant Grove's QR Code

  • Bryant Grove QR Code The image at left is known as a QR barcode or QR Code. You can scan it with your mobile phone (if it's capable) and will be directed to a mobile web page with useful information about Bryant Grove and our community. This enables you to save our information on your mobile phone for future use or reference, if you wish, without doing any text entry. Pretty clever isn't it, and it's just one more way we here at Bryant Grove try to make life a little easier for you.

In case you're wondering, QR stands for Quick Response. These two-dimensional barcodes were developed by Toyota about 16 years ago, so it's not new technology. You've probably seen them on a FedEx or Amazon label and not thought anything about it. But now with smartphones and other popular devices being able to read them, the use of CR Codes is becoming more widespread. Although, if you don't mind us bragging a bit here, Bryant Grove and Kennedy Place are in the vanguard for Edmond apartment communities to adopt this communications technology.  :D

    Rare Edmond 3 Bedroom Townhouse

  • Thursday, September 30, 2010
  •
First, I want to comment on why this Blog has not been very active lately. There are two reasons (excuses). The best one is we have been 100% full, not just leased but occupied, for the past two months. Pamela and her staff have worked very hard to achieve this result, and it is with great satisfaction for all that the goal was reached.

Being 100% full is also a reflection of why the City of Edmond selected, and the Edmond community voted Bryant Grove Apartments as the Best of Edmond 2010 for an apartment community. Come see for yourself. (map)

Second, part of that time was vacation time. A late summer vacation. I know, not much of an excuse but it's true.

So here we are, and we're not 100% full right now. Let's take a look at a rare 3 bedroom townhouse that's available.

This 3-bedroom townhome is over 1200 sq. ft. Downstairs features a private fenced-in courtyard off the dining room for cook outs, an open fully-equiped kitchen and laundry area with washer dryer hookups. Plus a ½ bath for guests. Upstair is of course a full bath, and all 3 bedrooms have extra-large closets. At $735.00 this townhouse offers a wide range of amenities for a great price.

Pets less than 25 lbs. are allowed with a non-refundable pet fee. Call us today at (405) 341-2161 or click the link to email us if you have any questions or to make an appointment to view this rare vacancy. It won't be vacant long.

    Edmond Bicycle Safety

  • Friday, July 30, 2010
  • Edmond police are promoting bicycle safety. "Bicycling in Edmond is growing in popularity, and recently we have been reminded of how dangerous the roadways can be when shared by vehicles and bicyclists,” said Glynda Chu, Edmond Police Department spokesperson.

In 2008, Edmond city officials adopted an ordinance modeled after a 2006 state ordinance about overtaking and passing bicyclists. The city ordinance requires drivers of motor vehicles to provide clearance of at least 3 feet when passing a bicycle traveling the same direction. More details here.

  • Tuesday, June 29, 2010
  • The water level is down from flood stage, but Arcadia Lake remains closed. It's expected to reopen as soon as the water level is down to normal, debris is removed from the parks and conditions are safe for visitors.

Following the flood of two years ago, as the water level went down the lake opened in stages, and that may be what happens this year. If the parks are open for the July 4th holiday, five days from today, they may not be 100 percent clean. For the full story, see this news article.
